Rhodes: Kokkini Porta Rossa (Family)

Kokkini porta rossa hotel

Kókkini Porta Rossa is the first building you’ll spot when entering the Medieval Town from St. John’s Gate, known locally as the “Red Door.” The hotel is built on the site of a knight’s home from 1340, where a small church dedicated to Saint John once stood. After Rhodes was taken by the Turks in 1522, Greek, Jewish, and Turkish families lived together in this house. Despite their differences, they shared the space peacefully, raising their children under one roof in harmony.
