Greece is a country with many historic sites, beautiful beaches, and friendly people. Greece is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe. You can visit some of the most beautiful places and enjoy the unique landscape of this amazing country. There are many things to do in Greece, such as hiking, swimming in the sea, or exploring different cities by bike.

Athens

  • Athens, the capital of Greece and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a wonderful place to visit with your family. There are many museums and galleries to explore as well as attractions such as The Acropolis and Plaka (the old town).
  • In addition to its cultural offerings, Athens has plenty of green spaces that make it easy for you to get out into nature while you’re there!

It’s also the perfect place for kids to explore. You can take them to the National Gardens, which boast more than 200 species of trees and shrubs, or visit the Acropolis Museum. The museum houses exhibits from Greek antiquity as well as archaeological finds from other parts of Greece.

The Acropolis is the main attraction in Athens, and it’s no wonder why. The ancient citadel has been a symbol of the city for thousands of years and continues to draw tourists from all over the world. It’s easy to see why: The Acropolis boasts some of Greece’s most famous landmarks including the Parthenon, Erechtheion, and Propylaea.

Crete Island

Crete is a beautiful island in Greece, and it’s also the largest of all Greek islands. It’s known for its unique culture, food, and music that make it stand out from other places on earth.

The island is home to many ancient ruins such as Knossos Palace where King Minos lived with his wife Pasiphae (who had an unnatural relationship with a bull). The story goes that Poseidon gave her two white bulls because he wanted them to mate so she could give birth to a monster named Asterios (which means “star”). In order to escape this fate, Minos built an impenetrable labyrinth where he kept Asterios locked up until he could kill himself!

The island has many beautiful beaches that you can go to, such as Balos and Elafonissi. These beaches are popular all year round because they have clear waters, soft sand, and plenty of sun!

In addition to its beaches, Crete has many beautiful mountains that you can hike up. The most famous mountain is Mount Ida which is the highest point on the island at 2,456 feet above sea level. It’s also home to a monastery called Timios Stavros which was built in 1320 AD by Palaiologos.

Santorini Island

Santorini is an island in the southern Aegean Sea. It’s known for its white-washed towns, blue-domed churches, and picturesque coastline. Here are some of our favorite things to do while visiting Santorini:

  • Take a hike up to Oia’s famous sunset views. It’s a steep climb (you’ll climb 1,500 steps), but it’s worth it!
  • Visit Akrotiri, an ancient Minoan city buried under volcanic ash from an eruption in 1620 B.C.
  • Go swimming at one of the calderas (volcanic craters) near Fira–they’re usually calm enough for kids too!
